Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) Calculator
Calculate your required minimum distribution (RMD) — the minimum amount you must withdraw annually from retirement accounts after age 73 — to avoid penalties and manage your retirement withdrawals. Our RMD calculator helps you determine how much you need to withdraw from your retirement accounts based on your age and account balance (for pre-tax retirement investments only).
Your Information
This calculator is for information purposes only and is not intended to provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice. The Required Minimum Distribution (“RMD”) calculator uses a formula based on the 12/31 IRA Account Balance from the previous years balance and Life Expectancy Factor from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table based on your age entered on 12/31 of the current year. This calculator should not be used in cases where the sole beneficiary is the IRA owner’s spouse who is more than 10 years younger than the IRA owner. Additionally, this calculator should not be used for information regarding inherited RMDs from inherited IRAs. In certain cases, a member’s first RMD may be deferred until April 1st of the year after reaching age 73. In subsequent years, RMDs must be satisfied by 12/31 each year. Please consult with a tax advisor regarding your specific RMD situation.
