In an industry full of investment-only advice...

We’ve created a membership for every facet of your financial life.

Images and stories are for illustrative purposes. They represent common needs of Facet members, but are not actual Facet members.

Your experiences, goals, and values are unique.

Shouldn’t your financial planning be too?

There’s no one-size-fits all approach to planning, so why is that the norm? Whether your goal is early retirement, world travel, or everyday memories, we keep your priorities at the forefront of every financial decision.

The building blocks of your membership.

While each member’s experience is unique, we believe there are a few things essential to good financial planning.

Becoming a member is simple.

(As it should be.)

Step 1

Choose your membership.

Our flat-fee memberships allow you to choose which option is best for your unique financial situation and goals.

Step 2

Connect and get started.

Our CFP® professionals really get to know you and using cutting-edge technology, we’ll craft a roadmap to help you achieve the life you want.

Step 3

Adapt as you go.

People, plans, and priorities change. That’s why, instead of a “set it and forget it” approach, your financial planning with Facet evolves as you do.

What to expect.

We’re committed to making our membership process as straightforward and transparent as possible—no surprises. So, let’s take a look at what your first year of membership looks like.

Getting to know you.

Gathering the facts

Upon joining, you’ll get a secure link where you can go through our seamless, intuitive onboarding experience to share all the data we need to build your plan.

Meet with a planner

On your first virtual meeting (with a real person, not an AI bot), a CFP® professional will work with you to understand your goals, concerns, and what a fulfilling life looks like for you.

Handcrafted scenarios

There’s always more than one way to get to where you want to go. That’s why, in addition to advice, your planner takes the time to create scenario options (or actionable plans) for you to choose from.

Time to take action

With your scenario decided (don’t worry, it can always change and evolve!), we provide the roadmap, actionable steps, and easy-to-use technology to help you take the first steps toward your goals.

More than guidance, we walk alongside you.

Monthly checkpoints

Each month, a planner will check in via messages to send reminders and action items that drive your plan forward and keep you on track. (TLDR: We’ll manage your to-do list for you!)

Easy-to-use tech platform and tools

We use a tech-driven approach and intuitive dashboard to make things simple, featuring automation, one-click actions, and direct message access to a CFP® professional.

Annual protection plan

Each year, a planner will provide personalized coverage recommendations (for things like insurance and estate planning) that can help keep you, your loved ones, and your assets protected.

Adapting (real time) and evolving (long term).

Flexible planning that adapts to your needs

Facet can provide guidance on choosing your benefits, allocating your 401k, and more*—helping ensure all aspects of your finances align with your ever-changing goals and circumstances.

Long-term planning that grows with you

Life changes (and that’s a good thing!) Whether you’re starting a family, buying a home, or starting a new job, we’ll help evolve your planning in real time.

*Offerings and services depend on membership tiers.

Frequently asked
questions.

In an industry saturated with fees, confusing jargon, and cookie-cutter solutions, Facet exists to make financial planning affordable, accessible, and personalized.

Affordable: With our flat-fee membership options and commission-free approach to investing, we’re helping you keep money in your pocket so you can spend it on the things that matter most to you.

Accessible: Financial planning can be complicated enough as it is, without all the fancy jargon and hard-to-understand processes. With knowledgeable, unbiased CFP® professionals, intuitive technology and ongoing support, we’re making financial planning simple. (As it should be.)

Personalized: There is no one-size-fits-all approach to planning because there is no such thing as a “standard client.” We take the time to understand our members’ individual needs, dreams and priorities to develop plans that help them achieve success by their unique definition of the word.

We offer three, flat-fee membership tiers based on your specific needs and goals. Unlike many financial planners, we do not charge based on the amount of money you invest with us (known as assets under management or AUM), nor do we charge commissions. We believe unbiased advice can’t exist when your planner or advisor is incentivized to sell you a product or keep your assets in a particular account. Our flat membership fees range between $2,000 and $6,000 per year and you can learn more about them here.

Financial planning is about setting goals, analyzing your current finances and creating strategies to achieve those goals. When you work with a financial planner, these strategies can include cash flow, debt, and investment management, as well as retirement, insurance, education, equity, and estate planning (and the list goes on.) Most importantly, financial planning with Facet is personal, making sure every goal and strategy is aligned with our members’ unique values and priorities.

While you may feel confident handling financial tasks independently, a financial planner offers expertise, objectivity, and comprehensive planning that go beyond task completion. Our CFP® professionals provide tailored advice, save you time, manage risks, and adapt your plan to changing circumstances, ensuring your long-term financial wellness and peace of mind.

A fiduciary holds a legal and ethical relationship of trust with the person whom they’re serving. Therefore, a fiduciary is legally obligated to only make recommendations in the best interest of each person they are giving advice to. Like all SEC-registered firms, all of the CFP® professionals at Facet are fiduciaries on behalf of our members.

All of Facet’s memberships are annual and non-refundable. If you choose to cancel your membership, you will be responsible for any outstanding balance, and will retain access to your planner and services for the remainder of the term.

You and your spouse or partner can use the same membership.

There’s no additional cost for investment management, it’s included as part of your Core, Plus, or Complete membership. While we’ll never charge additional fees for managing your accounts, our custodians may charge fees that will be deducted from your account. You can view a full list of potential custodial costs under the “Investment management” section of our legal page.

We’re able to include investment management as part of your Core, Plus, or Complete membership without charging additional fees because we believe in a transparent and member-centric approach to financial planning. While other investors raise fees when your portfolio grows (even if it is just because the market as a whole has gone up), we believe when you earn more, you should keep more.1 To us, managing a $100,000 portfolio isn’t much different than managing a $1,000,000 portfolio—so why would we make our members pay more? By structuring our services this way, we prioritize your financial well-being over transaction-based fees.

Based on an analysis by Facet, comparing a flat planning fee to a fee based on percentage of investment assets for members with investment accounts and calculating the difference in total fee payments over time.  In this analysis, Facet used the same variables – investment balance, a set of ongoing contributions, annual return and underlying fund fees – and with those, calculated the difference between a $3,000 flat fee and a 1% AUM (assets under management fee) over a 10 year period of time.  The analysis concluded that the flat fee approach generated significantly greater fee savings over time.
